Annual Nutrient Management Updates are required for all “phased-in” livestock operations. An update consists of a review of the strategy or plan, the addition of any record keeping documents, and updating the strategy or plan to more accurately reflect the operation in the up-coming year. Updates that may be required for a nutrient management strategy would be items like a change in animal numbers, a change in land base, or a change in incoming or out-going transfers. Possible updates to a nutrient management plan include crop rotation, field properties, nutrient application rates, or changes to your landbase (eg. filled in a ditch, a new catch basin or well). If there are no changes required, document that a review was completed. Updating services are available from Hoegy’s if needed.
